Gibraltar ranked 4th out of 32 Strong Creeping varieties for Turf Quality at the Rutgers University Adelphia, NJ turf evaluation trial, established in 1998. Gibraltar is primarily recommended as a component in mixtures that include perennial ryegrass, Kentucky bluegrass, and other fine fescues.
